My New Favourite Foundation and Real Techniques Sponge!

Hello!.. So a couple of weeks ago I kept noticing a lot of people talk about the Revlon Colour Stay Foundation for combination to oily skin. It was said to be really good. So I thought I would try it. So I rushed out and bought it. I have to say, it is definitely the best foundation I have used in a long while. It is my new favourite, my go to.

Since I have used this foundation I feel much more confident within myself and find myself powdering much less! This is because the Revlon Colour Stay Foundation gives me that matt finish my skin has been crying out for. The fact it is from a drug store is even better. It's easily accessible and won't put me out of pocket. I have this foundation in the shade '330 Natural Tan' and I have found it matches my skin perfectly. I find with a lot of other foundations I have tried I can look a little on the oompa loompa side, but I don't have that with this foundation.

The only thing that I feel could be better about this foundation is the packaging. It doesn't have a pump and because the consistency is fairly thick, I personally find it a little bit difficult to get the foundation out. I have the whole 'getting ketchup out of a glass bottle' thing happening.

My favourite way to apply this foundation is by using the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I had never tried using a sponge before purchasing this particular one. I love it. I usually dampen the sponge with some cold water before I use it. I then pop a little bit of the foundation onto the back of my hand and dip dab the sponge into it. The foundation gives a medium coverage but is easily build-able for those days where I am needing a bit more coverage. I am able to achieve this by blotting the sponge on those areas of my face. This sponge is also incredibly easy to clean. I just use a little bit of shampoo. It is as simple as that.

The finish this sponge gives my foundation is extremely natural. That is what I love about it most. I am a great believer of makeup enhancing what you already have, not changing what you have.

Have any of you tried the Revlon Colour Stay Foundation? or the Real Techniques Beauty Sponge? What did you think?

All Saints Leather Biker Jacket

I had been looking for the perfect leather jacket for the last year or two. I bought one on a whim last year, but I have to be honest, at the time I wasn't in love with it. I just thought 'it will do'. So this week after handing in a big uni project I decided to treat myself to a new one. I had, had my eye on one from All Saints for a while.

The style I went for was the 'Assembly Leather Biker Jacket', and I love it. What's really unique about this jacket is that you can wear it normally (at a normal length), or you can zip off the bottom section and it becomes cropped. I like the leather detailing on the sleeves and feel like that is also what makes this particular leather jacket unique.

It retails for £358. I think a leather jacket is a must have and I am looking forward to styling some outfits with this!

Soap and Glory's One Heck of a Blot Transparent Powder

As you may or may not know, I have been battling with my oily skin over the past couple of months. I have changed my skin care which is working for me, however, I still managed to get shiny throughout the day.

I have used a couple of the Mac powders which you're meant to be able to apply throughout the day, but I didn't like the way they made my skin look. So I decided it was time to find something new! But this time, I wanted to find something from a drug store.

After reading some blog posts (as you do) I stumbled across this 'Soap and Glory one heck of a blot' powder. So I decided to go out and buy it!

I really like the way this powder sits on my skin. I have been using it for the past week and it mattifies my T-Zone for a decent amount of time. I find myself only having to re-powder once throughout the day. I no longer feel uncomfortable like I just want to hide my shiny face. It is also translucent so anyone can use it!

It comes with a mirror inside and a little puff (is that what those spongy things are called?). I don't use the puff as I prefer to apply powder using a brush, but it is nice to have the option.

At this stage I am willing to experiment with powders drug store and high end. So if you have any recommendations please leave them in the comments!

Thanks for reading!

P.S I am going to try and do a blog post every wednesday and saturday! So please keep a look out :)

Tanya Burr Nail Polishes

Hello :) Right now I am sitting beside a long to do list of uni work, but it has been 9 whole days since my last post so I have decided to just push it to one side for a moment.

I have had these Tanya Burr nail polishes for a while and just haven't had a chance to wear any of them. Today I decided to paint my nails with 'Be Bright, Be Happy, Be You'. The name of this nail polish is really cute and the colour is just beautiful. Even though the stress of uni work is high at the moment, this nail polish has brightened up my day and made me even more excited for spring and summer!

Recommended Read

I never really know how I should start my posts. So.. Hello?

I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how amazing this book is and how much I would recommend everyone (!) to read it. I downloaded this book on iBooks, but I couldn't get into it. I then noticed lots of people on the train reading it, someone came into my work and was reading it, it was everywhere. So I took it as a sign, that I needed to get into it. So I bought a hard copy and I did. I loved it.

It's about a man who's (don't worry, I am not about to spoil the story) wife goes missing on their wedding anniversary. Just when you think the story is going one way, it becomes twisted and goes another. You won't be able to put it down.

If you read this book or have read it, please let me know in the comments! I like to read books which are about real life situations and dramas. I am also looking for another book to read so I would love it if you have any recommendations for me!

Thanks for Reading :)

My Skin Care Journey Part Three - My New Skin Care Routine!

My plan is to make this post as short and sweet as possible. Lets see how it goes because I know me, I talk too much sometimes. So! In this post I am going to be talking through my skin care routine.

1. Firstly I will remove any makeup with my 'Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil'. I use this product to remove my makeup in the evening and I also use this if my skins feeling dry on those no makeup days. I prefer to use an oil to remove my makeup because that way, I don't feel like I'm pulling at my skin too much, especially not around the eyes. It does a great job of removing my mascara. This is the first cleansing oil I have used, it leaves my skin feeling moisturised and doesn't leave my skin feeling oily. It also has a really nice calming natural scent.

2. In the mornings and at night I use my Origins 'Zero Oil Cleansing Gel'. With this product, a little goes a long way. You will only need about a pea sized amount. I usually dampen my face with warm water (in attempt to open my pores) I then take a pea sized amount and (try to) massage it in upwards motions into my face. By adding a little warm water it really helps the cleanser to foam up and leaves your face feeling deeply cleaned (which would be expected seeing as it is a "deep pore cleanser").

Once a week when I am having a little pamper session I will exfoliate in place of this. (If you have oily skin like I do, please remember exfoliating must only be done one a week!) At the moment I have been using the Origins 'Modern Friction' facial scrub sample I got from Origins. I am not sure if I will purchase this at the moment, simply because I haven't really used it that much! I will then follow up by using a face mask.

3. Twice a week I will use a face mask. The face mask I have been using recently is the 'ORIGINS Clear Improvements' charcoal mask. I can't say enough about this product. I have never in all my life used a face mask that has made my skin so clear. It says "acts like a magnet"- it really does. I know this product isn't cheap, however, you do only need a tiny amount. It is well worth the money and I would highly recommend this face mask to anyone with oily skin (!!!!!!!!!)

4. Once I have washed my face I like to splash it with cold water. Apparently cold water is the best kind of toner. I will then blot my face dry and then spray on the 'Lush Tea Tree Water Toner Water'. I like to use this because it is anti bacterial and so I feel like it helps me to keep those blemishes away. I tend to just leave my face to dry by its self at this stage.

I would have taken a photo of this, if I weren't so unorganised and didn't live in london with a lack of sunlight. So sorry about that!

5. Then I apply a small amount of the Origins 'Zero Oil, Oil Free Moisturising Lotion'. I use this in the morning and at night. I like this product because it doesn't leave a residue on my skin. It soaks in completely and leaves me feeling refreshed. However, what I will say, is that without using the 'Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil' after using this moisturiser my skin would feel tight and a bit dry. At the moment, I am in between the idea of keeping this product in my everyday skin care routine.

6. At this point I will apply an eye cream. This step is quite new to me, but since I realised how important it is to moisturise my eyes, it's now a step I can not go without. In the mornings I have been using the Origins 'GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff'. I find this product really nourishing for the eyes and I like the cosmetic brightening it has to it. I feel like it really does help me to appear more awake!

I have recently purchased another eye cream which is the Origins 'Dr.Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright', that I like to use at night. This is part of a new range so it is still very new to me, but it is said to minimise dark circles. Hopefully I see a difference!

As you can see I have clearly fallen in love with Origins! The fact their products are quite natural helped to really drag me in. I have felt much happier with my skin recently. I do still tend to get oily, that is usually during the day. I am not sure what else I can do to my skin to prevent this, apart from to carry a powder. However my skin is feeling so much more healthy and I haven't had as many breakouts. I think drinking water has been a major factor towards this as well.

I hope you enjoyed this post! and my attempt to do a skin care series. I also hope maybe even one of you found it helpful. If you haven't seen any of my skin care series please click here for part 1 and here for part two!

Thank you for reading!
